About Teterboro Airport

Teterboro Airport is a relief airport located in the New Jersey Meadowlands which is approximately 12 miles from midtown Manhattan. It is also the oldest airport in operation in the metropolitan areas of New York and New Jersey. Built to provide additional capacity to the area the airport focuses on clearing the regional air traffic by removing non-scheduled and general aviation aircraft that would otherwise cause congestion at the primary commercial airports. Since it is a reliever airport, no scheduled airline services operate out of here. Neither does it allow operations of aircraft exceeding 100,000 pounds. The airport is owned and managed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and home to many private aviation charter companies flying domestically and internationally.
