Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF) is conveniently located 11 miles north of Downtown Miami and is home to the busiest U.S. Coast Guard Air/Sea Rescue Station. Founded in 1927 and now a reliever airport to Miami International, OPF has one of the longest general aviation runways in the country. Amelia Earhart took off on her infamous 1937 flight from the former “Miami Municipal Airport,” which was located near OPF’s now main entrance.
