Nevada County Airport (GOO) is a public airport 3 miles east of Grass Valley, California. It was originally built during the gold rush to fly gold to what is now known as the San Francisco International Airport. The US Forest Service and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection use the airport as their base for wildfire air attack operations.

Empire Mine State Historic Park The Empire Mine State Historic Park is home to one of the oldest and most prolific gold mines in the state, producing more than 5.8 million ounces of gold.
